Accepted Currency:
The Jamaican dollar is the legal tender in Jamaica.  We are happy to exchange currency for our guests on property.  However, most merchants will accept U.S. dollars or traveler's checks as well as major credit cards like Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

Entry Documents:
U.S. and Caribbean citizens will need a current passport or a certified copy of a birth certificate.  All other International guests will need to verify that they have the necessary visa and/or documentation in order to enter and exit Jamaica. 

No Tipping Policy:
Couples Resorts places a strong emphasis on our No-Tipping Policy.  Once you arrive on our property, a friendly "thank you" is the best tip you can give, and the only one allowed.  (Outside our resorts tipping is customary for all airport baggage personnel, taxi drivers, etc.)

Electric Current:
The electric current at Couples Resorts is 110 volts. Adapters are not available.

Laundry and Dry Cleaning:
Irons and ironing boards available for guests to use. Laundry and dry cleaning service available Monday-Friday. Laundry takes 2 days to be returned.  Additional charge for rush orders. Contact the housekeeping department for more information. NOTE: Items given out on Thursday will not be returned until Monday.

Transfers:

Transfers between Couples and Montego Bay Airport are included.  Arrival flight information is to be provided prior to the arrival date (on making reservation). Departure information is provided by the guest on check-in. The hotel will re-confirm your departure flight.  Upon arrival at Montego Bay Airport, guests should proceed to the Couples desk, located outside Customs, and inform the representative that they are guests of Couples Resorts.

Location:
Couples Ocho Rios is situated on 19 acres of beach front property, 5 miles east of the town of Ocho Rios, one of Jamaica's major shopping areas (approx. 10 minutes drive). Sixty-five (65) miles from Donald Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay (approx. 2 hours drive).

Accommodations:
There are 212 rooms total. All rooms have either ocean or mountain view. Rooms are located in the main building, west wing, east wing, south wing, or in the garden villas. One bedroom suites are located in either the main building or in the garden villas.

Beach:
White sand beach, generally calm and crystal clear seas. Length: 1,053 feet, width 70 feet.

Au-Natural Sunbathing:
Tower Isle, Couples' own private island for 'au natural' sunbathing. Open 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Island has a swim-up pool bar, hammocks, lounge chairs. Snacks are available. Chicken, sandwiches, patties, fries, hamburgers and hot dogs. Guests may be transported by boat at their convenience or swim, if they are able to. There are two (2) rafts along the way where swimmers may rest.

Aviary:
Located in the garden. A varied collection of birds.

Tropical Mini Jungle:

Located in the garden. Path leads through jungle. Two Jacuzzi's are located in jungle (seating 2).

Jacuzzi:
We have three Jacuzzis accommodating 12 people. Two located near the main pool & one on the north side of the west building. Two accommodating 2 people. Located in the secluded garden/jungle areas. Private outdoor Jacuzzi's are located in the One Bedroom Villa Suites.

Pools:
There is a main pool with a 10 ft. diving board. length: 75ft. , width: 45 ft. , depth: 12 ft. Private plunge pools are located in the Luxury Junior Villa Suite & Luxury One Bedroom Villa Suites. A swim-up pool bar is located on Tower Isle.

Entertainment schedule changes weekly.
The following is an example of what may be expected:

Nightly floor shows: Usually at 9:30 p.m.
Featuring popular local entertainers.
Some nights guests and employees perform a show.

Dancing on the patio:
After the floor show, the disc jockey plays a variety of dance music for our guests.

Other Activities:
A variety of activities are scheduled throughout the day; Fashion show; Volleyball competition; Poolside music trivia; Karaoke & sing-a-long in the Piano Bar; Beach parties; Shuffleboard tournament.  Contact the Entertainment Director or Guest Services for more information.

We have two tennis pros who provide group and private lessons and we offer Scuba Certification courses.  (Please not these are not included in the package, but are available for an additional fee.)

Complimentary Offsite Excursions:

Catamaran Rum Punch Cruise
Guests board the catamaran on the beach and are taken to Shaw Park Beach where they may swim for 15-20 minutes.  Soda's and rum punch are complimentary on Tuesday and Thursday. Sign up at Water Sports Desk by 8:00 a.m. on the day of cruise.

Refreshments served. Approximately 2 hours.

Dunns River Falls
Tuesday & Thursday 9:15 a.m.
Return to hotel at 1:00 p.m.

Plantation Tour

Educational tour of a Jamaican plantation where guests may learn about the crops grown on the island.  Mon. - Fri. 1:45 p.m. - return at 3:30 p.m. Taxi transports guest to plantation. Approximately 5 minute drive.

Shopping Shuttle

Monday 2:00 p.m. - return at 4:30 p.m.
Friday 10:30 a.m. - return at 1:00 p.m.
A representative from a local tour company is available at the Tour Desk to book additional tours not included in the Couples all-inclusive package.

Medical Facilities:
Just in case of minor injury's, our staff includes a qualified nurse who can attend to minor illness, cuts, etc. A limited supply of medical items is also available. There is no charge for this service. Should guests require the service of a doctor, this must be paid at the time of the visit.

Massage:
Available at a modest cost.

Photographer:
9:00 a.m. - until the demand for photographs end at night.  *Pictures are displayed on a board the following day and guests may make their selection.

Salon:
Couples Beauty Shop 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., every day.  Special appointments may be arranged with brides having morning weddings.  Contact beauty salon directly.

Cashier:

Monday - Saturday 8:00 am - 11:00 p.m. 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.,  Sunday 8:00 am - 11:00 p.m. 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Cannot change traveler's checks to USD, only to Jamaican dollars. The bank does not change traveler's checks to USD for the hotel. Cash advances made against credit cards are in Jamaican Dollars only.
